Hey all,

I'm hoping that by joining here I can get a bit of support to help me reach my goals.
I'm wanting to lose 20kg OR fit a dress size 12 (currently an 18 or a 16 if I suck it in). I walk for an hour a day, but it's my food that is letting me down. I know what to do but I just can't seem to do it! I think I eat for no reason - and I have no willpower to stop myself. I ate an entire cheesecake yesterday AFTER eating fish and chips for lunch.
Starting to worry myself now.
All help/support/advice welcomed and appreciated.

Hi guys, I am a student using myplate (www.livestrong.com/myplate) to count my calories, I'm not looking to lose heaps and heaps of weight, maybe just a few kgs (relationship weight) but the main goal is to be healthier and stop eating when I'm not hungry.

I read most of the pages on the site and they have all been amazingly motivational and informative. I'm so glad I found it. I have been blogging daily about my calorie counting process and will continue to, you can find me at http://aliciaandelese.blogspot.com.

I would love to hear from any others who blog about their weight loss, it's great motivation for both me and for you!

Cheers

Hey all... Hi Liz,
I've been a "Big Girl" all my life, teetering around size 18-20 for the past 12 years.
I've noticed lately I'm tipping into the 22's!! This just can't happen!
I'm an IT trainer, and spend a lot of time behind a PC, or in front of a classroom. I have 3 little kids, aged 3 5 and 7, and a husband, who is rowing the same boat as me.

I joined the gym 3 years ago, and successfully lost 15kg, which found me quite quickly again, and aren't at all sitting as well as they used to.

I'm 30 now, and serious about changing my life for the good of my family.

Hi all instead of introductions for the title i decided to put something more fitting for myself.

Im 31 and in bad shape am 102 kgs and admit i don't eat right or eva, or wrong ways at times, even one meal skip a few *lol* the list goes on, i tell ya sometimes its just of one item thats on the not have at all LIST!

Anyways i was going to do a 12 week challenge at this gym in Gisborne, and all of a sudden even tho i had a baby only just months before he wasnt of the age to go into care, and i wasn't prepared....

I decided to wait untill the next challenge was this week for regestrations, and i joined up not realising i had to organise child care for my son, so now im racing about like a mad chook, so im gonna see if i can pay my neighbour to look after my 10 month old son the days i go into the gym!.....im going to be seeing if i can walk to the gym which is a fkn distance, then back again collecting son no 1, from after school care and back again to collect son no 2!

I went into the gym Thursday and signed up was 2 weeks in advance of 12 dollars and 20.00 for a regestration key,.....

I had to come in the day after, for a basic run through of the gym, and also to put a plan together for me to go through excluding stretches yet, which i have yet to question them over tommorow....

Now i have to go in Monday to get a weigh in, and fat check...etc...but im gonna be taking my son and i will explain i have no choice....

However Tuesday Weds Thursday should see me going to the gym from 1pm and to be home by about 4.30 5pm?...afeter collecting my son about 4 depending how long it takes for me to walk to the gym and back!....

I dont have a car and i dont intend to own one, i use the bus when necessary and thats only to purchase my shopping.....speaking of shopping i have a new shopping list this week and a diffrent way to eat food this week!.....

Im gonna be also eating 6 meals a day which seems a better option, plus 3 litres of water a day are needed by me to drink...and since im not a water fan, and hate the taste of chlorine and smell of it due to having Aspergers syndrome a form of Autism...
Im looking on trade me for a water purifier, hopefully that should turn things around!

My eldest son has managed to work out the water amount to ten glasse's and is designing me star chart, using glasses instead of stars, to place on the chart during the day and writing the time i had something to drink!

Their is a lite option for food, but the only downfall is i have trouble intaking low fat milk so its gonna be a bit of a challenge finding the right kind of milk to suit me!....

I do love youghurt so lite yoghurt should work....

Well i've also written some to do lists for me on http://www.tadalists.com and its allowed me to type up what chore's are needed to complete, and what else i can do whilst on my feet more then sitting down i know my gardens needing weeding is one!....

I also think i need a pedometor, for walking so i can make a fair amount of steps during the day!....

Well thats it for today some more tonight!....

hi all

well i'm no diff to anyone else here, was on track, fell off wagon, 2 steps forward and 10 steps back. Never really dieted before, not consciously anyways - i love food to much to stay away lol. I went from 147 to 88 to 127 to 99 then back to square 1 @ 147.1 oh yeah and we're talking KILOS not pounds lol - (be pretty scarey to be 88lbs @ 34yrs old) I have a very active 15yr old boy who wants to play every sport known to man, play the xbox and text girls, all at the same time lol (oh to have stamina). I saw ur video on youtube liz, very compelling viewing (and thats not meant to sound as sarcastic as it does lol) i remember when i was going to the gym i was doing alot of weights and the bare minimum cardio and lost ALOT of weight, fairly quickly too. I saw no point in throwing myself around in fact when i was in a few classes i nearly wet myself laughing at the ridiculous things that people are willing to do to work up a sweat. I could walk up a flight of stairs and sweat 10x more lol.

seriously though, now i'm back up to my biggest weight, the only thing i love more then food is sleep and u'd know (as would any plus sized person or previous plus sized person - to be politically correct) a good nights sleep is very hard to come by when ur overweight. Oh yeah and there's the heart disease, dying young, can't fit into plane seats, do up the seat belt, diabetes, skin condition, can't put on socks or do up shoe laces without gasping for air thing going on too. Funnily enough i have no idea how i got here. Perhaps it's the lack of planning, goal setting, perserverance and commitment??? maybe it's the fact i'm reading about motivation but have little myself??? it could be the fact that it's 3am and i'm blogging??? hmmmmmmmm....

I'm not going to say that 'tomorrow will be different' i'm gonna say 'today is day 1' - my motivation is my son - the reward is seeing him grow up, have his family and enjoy his life.

Hi, I need to lose about 25-30 kgs. In 2003 I lost 36 kgs and sadly have put it all back on. I have now developed high blood pressure and problems with my feet so now I have to get this weight off again. I am just after some motivation & support - I don't need to know all the foods I should & shouldn't have, I've done it before & know it all, just need to stick with it and realise it's a whole lifestyle change that has to be permanent this time. My body is resisting weight loss now, I'm now 45 and it's much harder. I have been on track now for 4 weeks. Each day is a milestone when you have food addictions but I'm ok at the moment.

Hi Everyone and Hello Liz! I just found this website and it's absolutely wonderful. I have been searching for weeks now on how to get myself back into shape again. I am a mother of 2 girls, 15yrs and 5yrs. I am 37 and unfortunately over the past 4 months I have put on quite a few pounds due to neck surgery. Now I want to get it off since I am starting to feel better. The problem: I am not sure where even to start. I also have my boyfriend who is going along with the "dieting" thing because he also needs to lose a few pounds. I am hoping that this site will help us through.

Thanks,

Hi After losing 40 kgs and maintaining for a year I thought I had my weight problems under control. However when life spiralled further out of my control due to some family tragedies I reverted to food for all my emotional needs. I am now in a binge/exercise phase and cannot find my way out of it. I am at home today recovering from the Oxfam trailwalker 100km challenge where I trekked for 30 hours non stop to raise money for Oxfam. I found this site and I am desperate for some support. I am 53 and my health problems that had disappeared are returning and my spirit is at an all time low.

I lost approx 30 - 35lbs on my 5ft3" frame 7 years ago. I joined a gym at the same time and have been faithful ever since. My body was tight and very toned...infact I had compliments from other gym members, esp. on my arms. I am 45 years old. This past summer my skin, over a span of 6 to 8 weeks lost a good portion of it's collagen/elasticity. The doctors figure stress/genes play a huge part. I am devastated. The worst area's hit are my arms, tummy and thighs. I still go to the gym about 4 times a week and I am a healthy eater. My body has changed and now I completely hide it. No more bathing suits, shorts, etc. Why did it take 7 years ? Why so suddenly, and especially when the skin was so firm. I would love to have surgery done on my thighs, but just the inner is going to cost about $10,000cad. Am I depressed over this, yes.

I am very pleased to have found this web site, very informative, great information, and Liz, what an inspiration to us all. 5 years ago I weighed 120 kilos, I have lost about 50 kilos in lumps and now weigh about 72ish. But I have been at this weight for about a year and really would like to shift some more, I am about 165cm that is 5ft 4ins so would ideally like to be about 63 kilos. I am 52, so no spring chicken but to be honest it was really only since my children left home that I was in the right head space to give myself priority. I have discovered exercise and now go to the gym 4 times a week, mostly cardio, I go tramping with girlfriends when I can, I bike once a week and try and be active at other times. Even with all this exercise and a fairly healthy diet of predominately fruit, veges, lean protein and whole grain I am still not losing anything. Could be the wine! and the accidental cheese and chocolate binges. But the fact is I have not been keeping a food diary so don't know where I have been going wrong. So I have had a look at the fitday web site and I think I will give calorie counting a go. I do lunch out quite a bit and it can be hard to calculate calories of purchased meals but I will give it a go. I am off to Wellington for 4 days, visiting children and retail therapy, but when I am back I will start calorie counting I think 1200 a day would be right for me,what do you think Liz or anyone?

Does anyone know if there is a link or a website that is available where you can basically use as a food diary. but in the amount of food you are eating and it automatically calculates out the amount of calories you have eaten as well as calculates the exercise you have done so you can see if you are doing more that what you are eating (god hope that makes sense LOL) saw it when watching the biggest loser australia. They were saying how quick and easy it was to keep a daily running total of everything...cheers <img src="http://weight-loss.co.nz/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":)" class="bb_smilies" />

Hi Ya
My name is Lee. I have just recentley joined the forum. I'm looking to lose weight and become healthy and active. I'm quite short, (1.52m and 71kgs), and would like to be in the 'healthy' weight range instead of 'almost obese' weight range for my height.
