It is a battle and the worst culprit is my extended inlaw family. I have yet to battle them; my immediate family are great I have no qualms now saying I am too fat and need to improve my eating habits. they too now eat the same meals as me.

Heya welcome along <img src="http://weight-loss.co.nz/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_biggrin.gif" title=":D" class="bb_smilies" />

50kg is nothing to sneeze at! Good on you for doing it for you and not for others, thats half the battle i think.
I noticed others don't seem to care if you're on a diet or not, if there is something nice to be eaten they just go for it etc.
You do feel better for it though when others encourage you to indulge and you dont <img src="http://weight-loss.co.nz/forum/my-plugins/bb-smilies/default/icon_smile.gif" title=":)" class="bb_smilies" />

I have to loose over 50 kg to be in the healthy weight range; is there anyone else out there too. Join me and together we can do this; I need a mental push now and then to keep me motivated.

Seen the Dr and I have been told to loose weight; or I can face lots of health problems like dying before I turn 46. WOW, what a wake up call.

I know I can do this; in fact I will do this; I am going to take one day at a time and be 'a new me'

today is Day one for me:
Breakfast - two toast, two eggs scrambled - used oil spray in nonstick pan
3/4 Cup light blue milk, 500ml water

already I have noticed what I should have taken note off - I ate buttered toast; and could have done with one slice of toast not two. but i am not going to beat myself up. I am going to plan my meals for the remainder of the day and fit exercise in as well.

I am going to acheive my personal goal. Without fail

My doctor only made the comment I've put on a bit of weight. Yeah I know..lol.

But a good friend who is about 95kgs went to the her doctor, a woman, who is overweight herself, concerned about her weight and wanting advice on how to loose it. And the silly doctor told her she didn't need to loose any and left my friend feeling unheard.

Yeah, i agree about the selling stuff.
In fact the first week she just handed me a piece of paper and told me to log what i ate, second visit i gave it too her and she gave me another and told me to eat healthier things
third visit i gave it back to her and i had eaten worse and she again just said 'eat healthier' and tried to convince me too.
Never stopped to actually explain anything about energy or calorie requirements or anything

I didnt know about the 6 free consults? Wonder if that still exists?!

I dont think nutritionists, or other professionals involved in weightloss should really be beating their own drum by selling you books, or bars or whatever. It crosses the line from professionalisim to commercialisim to me.

Hmm I dont recall if a Doctor ever said anything at all to me, i have a feeling they did a couple of times actually, but yeah i wasnt into it.
Then once i asked about what i could do they gave me referal to a dietitian for some free consults (you get 6 free consultations if you are refered from your doc), i went to the first 2 at which point she did nothing but try selling me books so never went back.
Kinda glad i did it on my own now because i KNOW it was all me and not anyone else i guess.

Just wondering, if your doctor advised you to lose weight? I was 128 kg and throughout my life as my weight went up and up and up, never ONCE did my doctor/s tell me to lose weight?! I was kinda waiting for them to, but no one ever did, even when I had a panic attack I mistook for a heart attack.

You only get 5 minutes with them I know, but I think they need to take obesity more seriously and bring it up with their patients if need be. I mean it is a serious health issue. I know people 120kg plus with high blood pressure, who have not been advised to lose weight! Simply given meds for blood pressure and test for diabetes. no diabetes, so no warnings. It seems very ambulance at the bottom of the cliff to me.

So tell me, how much do you weigh and has your doctor advised you to lose weight???
