ok I made it through hell week. Daughter did manage to kick butt in the dance show. I managed to overeat on her birthday, all week, and today on my own birthday.
Seriously eating! I'm too scared to get on the scales and my pants dont fit kinda stuff! :/

This week im kicking butt back, and getting into it again.

Ack so i finally got on the scales today. 81kg! not cool!
I knew i had been eating bad and gaining, but just had so much on i couldn't be assed. Ive been much better this week and am making a determined effort.
I've biked to work every day this week via the kids school (dropping them off). Its not a HUGE effort but its something at least (3km each way?). Food was great yesterday, i really stuck with it. Today is going to be harder because we always have work drinkies and munchies at 4pm.

Yikes, Liz! Not good. Ah well, you live and learn.

Work drinkies and munchies always trip me up. We've got a 50th birthday this Friday at work so it will be a big test for me. Am thinking it might be wise to plan a filling lunch and eat a little late so I'm not hungry when drinks kick off.

Good luck! Let us know how you get through it!

Yeah well besides 2 birthdays last week this was pretty much my schedule for the last couple weeks

    http://velofille.com/2009/09/04/if-you-dont-hear-much-from-me-this-will-be-why/

Hence why i was eating poorly. There was the day i drove into my daughters dance classes with a microwaved pie on my lap, and sat eating it whilst watching her practice!

It's always tough finding healthy, convenient food. I'm thinking about making a list of 'backups', that way on the days where I am super busy and get to the point where I'm starving, I don't ruin all my hard work.

ok ate breakfast, got the usual after breakfast cravy which i drank through.
Splurged and got coffee at the cafe, i swear he puts alcohol in it, its got a kick! Only got the small one and trim at that, but still feeling guilt.
No cycling today, my bike has a semi flat tyre and i didn't have time to sort it. Unsure if its just gone flat slowly or has a leak, ill check it out tonight when i get home. Rain predicted for tomorrow so ill go running instead (cycling and rain don't mix!)

Lunch is a couple of chicken & cheese sausages, which btw is one of my great secrets. They are only 120 calories (normal sausages are 200) and they taste the same IF you get them fresh and not the pre-cooked ones!

Dinner i have some plans on doing something with vegs.
I recently discovered this http://www.flickr.com/photos/vavroom/collections/72157607879018695/ Nothing more inspiring than a chef with a penchant for photography and sharing the recipe!

I figure I'll be using a lot of these recipes as ideas for things i want to do!

Okay, the day was ok, i think i overate at dinner a little though, but it was veges. Been getting all these ideas from magazines and stuff of various veges that can go together. So i made lists and then today went shopping. This is what we came up with for dinner
It was in several piles of things

Capsicum, spinach, onion, all lightly fried, with small chunks of feta thrown in afterwards. Lightly covered with hollandaise sauce. This was the best part of it, the rest was just trying various tastes.

Chicken pieces backed (i only had 1 thigh)
Carrot slices fries in butter (still with some crunch)
Kumera peeled and grated, fried in the pan without oil, and a bit of salt added

I grated the kumera because i wanted to lightly cook it, without it going to that complete mush state when its baked or something. I fact i found it had a nicer texture than mashed kumera , and drier than potatoes.
This means I'll probably try doing kumera hash browns, i hate how wet potato is for that!

Note: when I fry i have a really non stick frypan, so pretty much oil free.
Kumera = Sweet Potato (for the non-NZ'rs)

Food has been up the pooper for a good part of this week, but im hanging in there trying to get the maintaince. Id like to be loosing but i can live with maintaining. Been jogging with the girls (my daughters) twice this week already, next time is friday.

6 weeks left until Auckland marathon - we are only doing 10km but the girls are acting like its 100km or something.
Out of 37mins running time 10 mins is spent walking and moaning that they "cant do it" and "im tired" and "it hurts". To be fair its only one of the kids, and she does have a problem with low self esteem which is why i'm doing this in the first place.
Currently only doing 4km 3 times a week and upping that by 1km every week or two.

ok i got on the scales.

    Its bad
83 kg! to many lollies and junk!
Well i started that Biggest Loser style thing in the other thread where you can win a bunch of money. I see a few others from here and others I know also joined which is excellent.
I aim to get to at least 70kg!
On the good side, i do know what im doing and how to do it, on the bad side im not overly well self controlled all the time (especially lately!).
So yeah, prepare to be beaten and all that!

Okay update time, down 2.6kg total!!! yess! Whilst i realize its still water weight and other, not fat loss, its still a good feeling.
I didn't sleep at all much last night and i tend to binge when tired, and though ive been so good i have to be doubly careful.
Wish the rain would stop, cant do any exercise! Keep wondering how Vanessa is doing in Aus also. Shes supposed to be starting today or something, though its gonna be hard doing it whilst on holiday.

Woohoo! Great job. As long as you're going in the right direction, that's what counts.

oh making epic inroads now, had a few close touch and go moments with the diet.
Trying to keep the protein and all that on the right track and eat all the right foods. Then i realized not eating enough Iron so throwing steak in there.
Today went to a do and forgot lunch, so somebody turned up with pizza and i was starving and no food in sight for the next 2-3 hours. I ended up eating 1 slice of pizza and a small muffin. totally not on the diet! On the plus side, get this ... was 83kg , down to 79.3 !! in 5 days! talk about retaining a fair bit of water!.
That's scary because its a bad sign for the single kidney. first sign of poor kidney function is high blood pressure and retaining water, so im glad i got my crap together and got on top of this.

hahhah yesterday went downhill. Work drinks and munchies, then home and dinner.

Ended up going over maintenance, though at least dinner was soup. Because of the extra foods im now 1kg heavier today!

Erg went away on saturday and pretty much ate myself silly from then until monday night.
Lollies whilst traveling, fried chicken and chips, pizza, scones with jam and cream.
    Insanity!
Mind you, it was a holiday, and we did have a great time! didn't do a LOT of exercise but managed to climb up a big spiral structure thing with 100 odd steps and got really dizzy. The legs really hurt now too :O

Uh-oh, that does not sound good! Actually it does, that's part of the problem, isn't it?

Don't let it become a habit! Make sure you are really good this week and get back into the swing of things.

Glad to hear you had a good break. I was really hoping to get away over the weekend too, but unfortunately it didn't work out. Maybe labour weekend - fingers crossed.
